Most employers say that meeting the needs of employees across all life stages and the diversity  spectrum is an important benefits objective.1 But understanding what future employees will want and  need to help them with health care is no easy task. The tension between customization of health  benefits and efficiency of standardization is an ongoing challenge for employers. Three-quarters of  health benefits leaders surveyed by Fidelity agreed that this is an issue for them; 29% strongly agreed.2 The tension has led to an increase in the number of benefits employers offer, but with little  understanding about whether they will attract, engage, and improve health while not further depriving  underserved communities.
